Jakob Spruce is a multidisciplinary theatre artist born and raised in the heart of Appalachia. Some of his produced stage works include Winnie-the-Pooh, The Fight, What We Have, A Dancer’s Elegy, Our Millennial Parents, and more. For the screen, Jakob’s produced work includes What I Want, Donkey Riding, and Gamers Unite. His work has been produced at festivals including the Raymond Laine Memorial One Act Festival and Lights Up! 10-Minute Play Festival and at schools such as Capital High School and Huntington High School in West Virginia. Awards for his film What I Want include: Best Narrative Feature, Appalachian Queer Film Festival and honorable mention, Virginia Queer Film Festival.

Jakob holds an MFA degree in Writing for the Screen & Stage at Point Park University and an honors BA in Theatre Arts (Tech/Design) from West Virginia Wesleyan College with minors in Musical Theatre, Gender Studies, and English. Currently, Jakob serves as the theatre director at Capital High School in West Virginia where he works with students to create safe and inclusive environments that allow for positive, collaborative artistic expression to flourish using ethos of restorative justice and theatrical intimacy.
