Peter Chansky

Peter Chansky is a Philadelphia-based playwright currently enrolled in the MFA Playwriting program at Temple University. His work explores the existential foundations of identity and performance through heightened realism bordering on the absurd. His short film We’re All Fine was awarded at Couch Film Festival, Mindfield Film Festival, and NYLIFF, and his play The Baby Shower has been performed at 61 Local and Wild East Brewery. His short play Camouflage will premiere at the 48th Annual Samuel French OOB Short Play Festival in August.

Synopsis

The Baby Shower

Synopsis

A group of young parents gather at their favorite Brooklyn bar to celebrate a baby shower. As they drink beer and wine, snack on cheese plates, and share child-rearing secrets, the anxieties of parenthood lurk under the surface. When one of the couples reveals they gave their child up for adoption, their friends take it personally, and drunken chaos ensues.
