Sunny was awarded a US green card for “extraordinary ability in the arts”. His inventive and multi-award-winning theatre works have been presented in over 60 cities across the world and translated into 6 languages. In 2021, he won a national Tom Hendry award for EVERY LITTLE NOOKIE (the Chris Tolley & Dharini Woollcombe Comedy Award) which premiered in 2022 at the Stratford Festival, Canada’s largest theatre.
In 2024, Sunny premiered CHILD-ish with Pacific Theatre (Vancouver), his verbatim work where adults speak children’s exact words. The previous digital adaptation of CHILD-ish was presented across Canada, by Soulpepper, Stratford Festival, Oakville Centre for the Arts, the Shadbolt and Prairie Theatre Exchange. His international theatrical podcast, CLIMATE CHANGE & OTHER SMALL TALK, won Professional Association of Canadian Theatre’s Green Award (2024), Best Comedy Podcast of the Year from the American Writing Awards (2024), several Signal Awards and was ranked in Apple Podcast’s top ten for numerous countries. In 2022, Downstage (Calgary) premiered his comedy, MEN EXPRESS THEIR FEELINGS, which was described by the Calgary Herald as “an instant Canadian classic”. It had a second production with Zee Zee (Vancouver) in 2022. Prior to these works, Sunny extensively toured his one person shows.
Sunny has new work in development/ commissions with Lucille Lortel Theatre (New York), Geffen Playhouse (Los Angeles) and Zee Zee Theatre (Vancouver.
