Synopsis

I've had this dream. I'm standing at the edge of a cliff, at the bottom, there isn't anything but endless void. I stare down the abyss, and all of a sudden my left hand starts to pull me down, but my right hand pulls away from the edge, canceling each other out. To be at the precipice of a decision, a crossroads which outcomes may very well be devastating, could be difficult to sway to the side you know is true...

The Gentle Knock is about the collapse of the family unit with the loss of a loved one. The characters express themselves through a “modern-Shakespearean verse” style to convey the level of their grief. The play explores unhealthy family dynamics, unhealthy coping mechanisms, and the conflicting desire to want everything at a distance, but also hold onto everything tightly close.
