At one point, I found myself on the verge of tears, then suddenly, I was giggling and kicking my feet. Seventeen-year-old Arrah Andrews is struggling to come to terms with the recent death of her mother. Hoping for a fresh start, she and her father move into a new house. As Arrah attempts to adapt, finishing her senior year and spending time with her best friend Rachel, she notices something unsettling about her new bedroom closet, which only she and her cat, Lucifer, seem to detect. Then, she wakes up with bruises on her wrists.

Arrah and Rachel discover a diary hidden in the floorboards of Arrah’s room. It belonged to a woman from the 1960s who detailed the collapse of her marriage and the abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband. This discovery marks the beginning of a dual battle for Arrah: she must contend with a supernatural presence threatening her family and face the pervasive fears associated with being a young woman in today’s world.

As the supernatural entity's influence grows, it begins to possess her father, turning him against her. Arrah finds strength in the presence of the spirit of the diary's author, who aids her in fighting back. The tension culminates in a chilling confrontation in Acadia National Park, where the past and present collide. With the help of Rachel, Arrah unearths the truth and confronts the malevolent force that has haunted her family.

"Shadow Woman" challenges toxic masculinity and shatters the "scream queen" stereotype, presenting a slow-building thriller that utilizes dance, sound, and spectacle to create a theatrical horror experience.
