Tanner Forbes (any/all) is a Brooklyn-based playwright, screenwriter, and (sometimes) director and actor.
He writes stories about the queer experience that are equally disturbing as they are stupid. As someone who’s terrified of everything, they find comfort by diving into the danger head-first.
He often uses shock factor, muddy logic, and cynicism to break the barrier between art and audience, exposing the grossest parts of ourselves, or perhaps, our deepest humanity.
As a recent grad of NYU’s Dramatic Writing program, Tanner has a lot of debt, but more importantly, a couple plays under his belt. While studying, Tanner developed plays Holy Shit, Time Share, and BREED, the latter two being produced through the Broke People Play Festival. Time Share was selected to be a part of The 2024 Spring Writer's Intensive with The Workshop Theater and, in October, you can see a staged reading of the piece, directed by Ashley Bufkin and Emma Shafer.
Tanner's favorite theatrical outing was in 2006’s Beauty and the Beast Jr, where he starred as both Beast and Gaston, not to brag. Other ambitions include becoming a professional lego artist and/or a Stepdad.
