The tone DONNA REED SHOW RETRO -- except the perfect American family, FAMILY 9437, is now half cockroach, half human, the planet is dying, and they live on one gallon of water a week. JUSTIN, a precocious 15 year old, hopes to move his family up to Level 3 when he passes the Level 3 exams, but then BABY LULU drinks all the water left in the bottle... which should have been enough for 2 more days. We are in GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON’S spacious living room in Washington D.C., in 1938. It is a meeting of her SATURDAY NIGHT SALON - called THE SATURDAY NIGHTERS - where she hosts struggling black artists, activists and writers, many of whom are or will be luminaries of the HARLEM RENAISSANCE. Tonight we meet OSWALD VILLARD, who co-founded the NAACP and co-edits the magazine CRISIS with W.E.B. du Bois; LANGSTON HUGHES ZORA NEALE HURSTON, a 37 year old anthropologist and novelist, just back from Haiti, where she has been studying Vodun and folk dialects. Du Bois has sent OSWALD with a list of possible cuts for Georgia’s play, AND YET THEY PAUSED, which is based on true events, involving the lynching of two men in Duck Hill, Mississippi. Georgia and her friends read the play, drink and squabble, and Georgia resists most of Oswald’s cuts and changes. “Oz” finally realizes the horror at the center of this play, and its importance: perhaps it alone can change how white people feel about lynching, and help pass the Wagner Anti Lynching Bill currently stalled in the Senate. But will lynching stop, even after the bill is passed? Has, in fact, lynching ever stopped? “Young black man has him a dream, white folks got to stop him somehow,” says Georgia’s Reverend Williams. “What happens to a dream deferred?” writes Langston, many years later.

How will she survive? How will she and Steve move on, after this encounter?
  • PAMMY AND PERSEUS
Perseus is ordered by Zeus to slay Medusa, the she-monster who is turning whole villages - and lots of heroes - into stone. But first he has to find her. He goes to the cave of her sisters, the Three Graeae, goddesses who are unimaginably old - so old they only have one eye and one tooth between them. But the youngest, Pamphreddo, (Pammy) can still transform herself into a young siren or a swan - sometimes both at once. Pammy sees Perseus coming up their mountain, with his enchanted donkey, JOKER, carrying most of the load. Is he her Hero? The hero she's been waiting for? She falls in love, and gets "fluffy" - sprouting feathers as she gets aroused. She flies down the hill to keep him from going up the wrong path -- the one that leads to Medusa's last temple. Her cannibal sisters, Eino and Deino, look at Perseus and lick their lips... a big hunky hero for the crockpot! Will Perseus fall in love with Pammy? Will he find out where Medusa is hiding? Will Joker ever become the man he used to be? Secrets are revealed, hearts are broken, spells are lifted, songs are sung... and true love conquers all.

Edsel and Lila, both in their late seventies, lose their pension in the Bank Disaster of 2008, and now they must sell their house. The shock of losing his pension has caused Edsel to drift into his own fantasy world. For him, the stack of boxes he must leave behind, is like a collection of old friends, sweet memories, so quickly fading. For Lila, the cluttered garage is a nightmare she never has been able to understand. While his memories protect and sustain Edsel, they attack Lila, and may disable her for the new job she's found as Work Kamper for Amazon.com. She trips and falls, is all she knows, but she gets right back up. One must "keep moving, is all. Keep moving, and don't look back." But will she be able to take care of Edsel and work the 10 hour shifts she has taken on, with her bad knee, made worse by the "accident" in the garage?
