Can Sasha and Mallory work out their interpersonal dramas and find their friend before it's too late?

The Baba Yaga leads us on a journey through the woods to our local AA meeting, where our heroes struggle to overcome their substance abuse issues while the play itself crumbles around them. An adult fairytale about depression, self-medicating, and the transformative power of art.

The title of this play comes from Ram Dass in the book 'Be Here Now,' which I was reading at the time of writing this. "You are the universe, you are all form, you are the breath, you are the river, you are the void, you are the desire to be enlightened, you are enlightened."

[This is a play I wrote a long time ago that explores similar themes to my other early work and is very much by a younger version of me. There are troubled young people and a witch. This play is about time, loss, death, and environmental anxiety. I wrote it after my grandma died. I won't be sharing it here, but it was a finalist for the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab back in the day!]

Albion wants to be a normal 19th-century boy and explore his sexuality with his neighbor-friend, Shirley, but Slayton, his troubled musician father, and Eleanor, his mother, have other plans for him. Meanwhile Muriel, his older sister, watches down on him from the attic and hopes to save him from the same fate that befell her.

Background on the script: I wrote this script by hand in 2009-2010 in classes led by Eduardo Machado, who originally learned his writing techniques from Maria Irene Fornes. The style and form of the play reflect that. It was written using diary entries from my great-grandmother as source material as well as family lore and first-hand experiences, but it ultimately flowed from my subconscious. It is more dramatic and less overtly funny than my other work. It is loosely structured like a piece of music and contains musical themes. I have a complicated relationship with this play. It is soon to be published by 1319 Press (2026).
