Amid the strained peace after the first great elf war, two star-crossed janitors (Danny and Kimetri) meet in secret in the boiler room of Smith College in Western Massachusetts. Danny (a janitor at Mt. Holyoke College) has arrived uninvited and on the run from an enraged Smith College Janitorial staff, but is determined to rescue Kimetri(a Smith College Janitor more recently transferred in from grounds) from the tyranny of the current Janitorial order, out of love and a need to make meaning from his prior failure to help the elves.
Kimetri is forced to confront their tenuous neutral position in the conflict, unpacking their narrative of the elves, and feelings towards Danny.
Will they find love, or is that the wrong question?
