Multer & Multer’s first original musical, code name: CYNTHIA, received its premiere production in 2015 with Pallas Theatre Collective, Washington D.C. ("A tightly crafted show (and) story whose romance, glamor and high-stakes suspense seem gifts from the espionage-tale gods.” - The Washington Post.) The production was nominated for two BroadwayWorld Washington DC Awards including Best World Premiere Musical, and was given DCMetroTheaterArts’ 2015 Best Musicals at Professional Theaters Honors. code name: CYNTHIA was presented at the International Spy Museum and the Kennedy Center’s 2015 Page-to-Stage Festival with additional workshops and public readings produced by Chicago Dramatists, Porchlight Music Theatre, Point Park University, and Ball State University.
Karen & Steve were 2011 Dramatists Guild Fellows (Chicago) and Steve was a finalist for the 2014 Kleban Prize (lyrics). code name: CYNTHIA was a finalist for the 2013 ASCAP New Musical Theatre Festival at the Lied Center, a semi-finalist for the 2012 and 2014 National Musical Theatre Conferences at the O’Neill, and a semi-finalist for the 2012 National Alliance for Musical Theatre Conference.
Multer & Multer’s latest musical, Buried in Prosperity, has been selected for both 2018’s The Pitch - Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival, and 2018’s The Discovery New Musical Theatre Festival at Ball State University. The show was featured at the Kennedy Center’s 2017 Page-to-Stage Festival, and was also given a workshop/reading by Pittsburgh’s Point Park University as part of their New Musical Laboratory.
Karen holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Commercial Music Composition/Production from Northwestern University, having written jingles for Wrigley, McDonald’s, Ford, Snickers, Oshkosh B’Gosh, and the Miami Board of Tourism, among others. Steve holds a B.A. in Theatre from San Diego State University and Boston University.
