Jeremy Llorence is a Black American playwright from Metro-Detroit. His ten-minute, one-act, and full-length plays have been seen in venues all over the Midwest including Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Milwaukee, and Chicago. Jeremy Llorence is a Black American playwright from Metro-Detroit. His ten-minute, one-act, and full-length plays have been seen in venues all over the Midwest including Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Milwaukee, and Chicago. His play, Cane River King, was the 2015 recipient of the Region Three Kennedy Center American College Theatre Fest award for best full length, the winner of the 2015 Activate: Midwest Festival, and has seen production at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theatre in Chicago. He holds a BA from Grand Valley State University and an MFA from Western Michigan University. He is the current playwriting faculty at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio.     An adaptation of the book of poems by Todd Kaneko, The Dead Wrestler follows Kal Harmon and his father, Gene: two men whose love of pro wrestling is only eclipsed by a growing mutual resentment that began when Kal's mother, Gene's wife, walked out on them almost twenty years ago. But when Kal comes home for Gene's birthday and announces his engagement to a woman Gene has never met, the two are forced to battle their years of built up frustration and their unresolved abandonment issues, all through the lens of their interactions with famous dead wrestlers.

    After receiving news of his estranged Uncle Ottie's death, Emile - a Chicago college dropout - must venture down to his family’s home of Natchitoches, Louisiana where he has been placed in charge of carrying out his uncle’s last wishes. Harboring plenty of leftover resentment, Emile is initially hesitant to honor this request, but when he finds himself back in a town he'd much rather forget, Emile is thrown on a journey through the past and present to find out exactly who Ottie was. Will Emile learn to move forward, or suffer the same sad fate as his uncle? Cane River King is an odd comedy that blurs time and reality in search of life and meaning in smalltown Louisiana.

    Set in the suburbs of Detroit, Shiawase (幸せ) follows Keith and Cujo, two high school students belonging to a gang of juvenile delinquents known as the Shiawassee Posse. Keith, the Posse's current leader has grown distant from his gang, even going as far as to question its importance and validity while Cujo's pride threatens to lead him down a dark path of violence and cultural misappropriation. But when a seemingly harmless midnight cruise turns deadly, the former best friends must fight to discover what in their small, surburban lives is really worth living for.
