Ron’s play JEROME was selected as a Finalist at the O’Neill’s National Playwrights Conference and was nominated for Williamstown Theatre Festival's L. Arnold Weissberger Award. Most recently, JEROME was selected for Florida Repertory Theater's Playlab. It has been workshopped twice at NY Stage & Film; Readings at Ojai Playwrights Conference, Antaeus Theatre, Pacific Resident Theatre, Road Theater Playwrights Festival, and Blank Theater. His latest play LOVE THE SINNER has been read at OPC and EST/LA. He is currently adapting his screenplay "Haight & Stanyan" for television. With a working title “Golden Gate Park” the series follows the lives of several teenagers on the brink of adulthood in San Francisco in the tumultuous late 1960s.

World premieres include Alfred Uhry’s DRIVING MISS DAISY (Pulitzer Prize, Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk Award nomination) and LAST NIGHT NIGHT OF BALLYHOO (Tony Award, best play, Pulitzer Prize finalist), the Joseph Dougherty/Lynn Ahrens/Stephen Flaherty musical MY FAVORITE YEAR, Christopher Durang’s LAUGHING WILD (OCC Award), Mr. Dougherty’s DIGBY (Drama Desk nomination), Beth Henley’s ABUNDANCE, John Patrick Shanley’s WOMEN OF MANHATTAN, Timothy Mason’s ONLY YOU (OCC Award), Jane Anderson’s LOOKING FOR NORMAL(Ovation nomination, Best Director), Lisa Loomer’s BIRDS, and Christopher Kyle’s PLUNGE. Additionally, Ron directed the world premiere of Mr. Dougherty’s CHESTER BAILEY with David Strathairn at A.C.T. in San Francisco (Best Play and Production, Theater Bay Area Awards, including Best Director nomination). He subsequently staged the play at Contemporary American Theatre with Reed Birney and his son Ephraim Birney. Barrington Stage Company has invited the same team to reunite for their 2021 season. Ron directed Steven Cragg’s I AM NOT MARK TWAIN (Aspen Comedy Festival Best Play).

His extensive TV credits include several pilots, most notably “Picket Fences”(DGA Award for Best Long Form Direction) and “Homefront” (Emmy nomination, Best Director). His favorite episodic work includes “thirtysomething,” “Ally McBeal,” “My So-Called Life,” “The Unit,” “The Starter Wife,” “Shark,” “Pretty Little Liars,” "The Fosters," and “Nashville.” For his work on the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, “My Sister’s Keeper,” starring Kathy Bates and Lynn Redgrave, he was awarded the NAMI Award (National Alliance for Mental Illness) for excellence in television. He is the recipient of an NEA grant, serving as resident director of Hartford Stage Company. Ron was also the associate artistic director of Berkshire Theater Festival. He received his MFA in Directing from NYU School of the Arts (J.S. Seidman Award Graduate) and his BA in Theater from Santa Clara University (Valedictorian). He has developed many plays at the O’Neill, NY Stage & Film, Sundance, and the Ojai Playwrights Conference.

Synopsis

Upon the untimely death of their father, two estranged brothers must face off to determine the proper care for their schizophrenic brother Jerome. Alternately heartbreaking and hilarious, JEROME deals with familial love, responsibility, mental illness, and the critical choices that shape our lives. The three brothers embark on a rocky, emotional journey none were prepared to take.
