For the Class of 2018, college applications are on the horizon, which means straight As, extracurriculars, and all-nighters are a must. Sophia, Div, Agda and Topher are four girls with big dreams and fierce ambitions. Their lives, which have been determined since they first enrolled in private preschool, are going exactly as planned-- until they realize they share a massive secret that will change not only them, but their classmates and the very school that brought them together. At the intersection of female friendship and toxic institutions, how do girls tell their truth?

For as long as there has been mankind, there has been bysuss, a mystical silk woven from the sea. The process of weaving bysuss has been passed down from one generation of women to another, and is only known to a single family of Jewish women who reside in a tiny town on the coast of Italy.
Leanona is the current sea silk weaver, and her daughter Maria is next in line. But Maria intends to buck tradition—unlike hundreds of women before her, she doesn’t want to be saddled with the burden of weaving bysuss for the rest of her days. Leanona is confident she can change Maria’s mind, but as time wears on, Leanona begins to doubt how much sway she holds over her daughter. If Maria refuses to learn the art, it will be lost forever. As the play descends into the madness and fear of an old woman at the end of her life, demons and ancestors emerge to have their say.
