Bambi Everson

Bambi Everson, a playwright, actress and teacher, was born in New York City. She is the daughter of film historian William K. Everson and graduated the High School of Performing Arts in 1977. She appeared in many plays by Robert Patrick at La Mama ETC, Theatre For The New City, Grove St. Playhouse, York Theatre Co., The NY Theatre Ensemble and other Off Broadway theaters.

Bambi Everson, a playwright, actress and teacher, was born in New York City. She is the daughter of film historian William K. Everson and graduated the High School of Performing Arts in 1977. She received her B.A. in Theater Arts from Empire State College in New York. She studied with Geraldine Page and Michael Schulman, and more recently with Lynda Crawford and Lucy Winner. In 2015, she was the recipient of the Yip Harburg Foundation scholarship. She currently teaches playwriting in two Manhattan arts schools.

Indie Theater Now published her full-length play, NEITHER HERE NOIR THERE in 2016 and it was one of 12 plays selected by Manhattan Repertory Theatre for inclusion in their 2017 Premiere Play Series. It also received a student production at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C. Ms. Everson's other plays include nine one-acts and the full lengths WRONG CALL and the Hammet- Chekhov mashup, THE THIN MAN IN THE CHERRY ORCHARD.

  • THE THIN MAN IN THE CHERRY ORCHARD
    As the name suggests, the play is a charmingly sardonic mashup of two seemingly far-flung worlds; the hard boiled milieu of Dashiell Hammet's glamorously pickled American sleuths Nick and Nora Charles; and the stoic inhabitants of Chekhov's bleak Russian tundra. Naturally, a murder, and hilarity, ensue - can Nick figure out who the murderer is before they run out of vodka? Full length, approx. 100m, one intermission.
  • WRONG CALL
    Roger is a hapless loser. He's just broken up with his girlfriend. He's alone and desperate in a hotel downtown, and decides for the first time in his life to call an escort service. The first in a series of wrong calls for Roger. A tale of one man's blundering attempts to cover-up an embarrassing incident, causing it to spiral completely out of control. One act, approx. 75 minutes. Dark comedy.
  • SINCERELY HELD BELIEFS
    Mandy is caught between her two friends. One a grieving mother, and the other a zealous clairvoyant who is convinced she is receiving messages from the other side. Mandy must try to mediate these two relationships, while staying true to her own beliefs.
  • MURDER IS SERVED
    A murderous love triangle amongst octogenarians in an assisted living facility. Married for 40 years, Steve Lowenthal's life has been made intolerable by his henpecking wife, Rita. Finding new love in the rehabilitation center leads to deceit, treachery, revenge and cheating at Scrabble. One act, approx. 45 min.
  • NEITHER HERE NOIR THERE
    Michael, newly divorced, broke and depressed, has taken up residence at the apartment of his best friend, Alice. Prompted by Alice, Michael begins to rework a discarded film noir novel. He soon runs into trouble when his femme fatale, Maxie Malone, comes to life with an agenda of her own – one that does not include Alice. Blithe Spirit meets The Maltese Falcon. Full length, approx. 60 min.
  • HEAVEN SENT
    A slightly curdled guardian angel story. An innocent young angel is assigned the task of improving the life of a surly malcontent - with no further instructions. Some good deeds can't go unpunished! One act, approx. 55 min.
  • UNPLUGGED
    A writer’s work is disrupted when his printer takes on a life, and an agenda, of its own. One act, approx. 10 minutes.
  • WANDER WOMAN
    On medication, Jeff’s ex-wife keeps turning up at their old apartment while walking in her sleep. The families attempt to get to the root of her problem.
  • MEETING MERVYN
    A middle-aged mom meets a gruff but lovable curmudgeon, and a special friendship develops. TIME: The Present. PLACE: Corner of 96th Street and Columbus Ave., New York City. One act, approx. 10 minutes.
  • BETWEEN HERE AND WHERE YOU ARE
    A woman straddles two worlds after the loss of her partner. One act, approx. 20 minutes.
  • SIGNAL PROBLEMS
    A chance encounter on the New York Subway. One act, approx. 17 minutes.
  • OVER FOR DINNER
    A young girl meets her boyfriend's parents for the first time, with surprising consequences. One act, approx. 10 minutes.
  • HOLDOUT
    Alex has been on jury duty, the lone holdout in a high profile case. Miranda returns home from work and must deal with the repercussions of her boyfriend's actions. One act, approx. 10 minutes.
