Kit Goldstein Grant

Kit Goldstein Grant is a prize-winning New York City-based composer, lyricist and librettist. She is currently developing a new musical, MICRO-FACE, for NPR podcast PLANET MONEY. Her musicals have been seen in South Africa (THE NOSE, Artscape Theatre Centre; The Drama Factory; National Arts Festival) and in New York at Theatre Row (THE GIANT HOAX, Indieworks Theatre Co.), the Master Theater (THE NOSE, dir. Turkey and Blue Eyes have always been good little girls… until they meet a Strange Girl who tells them she has two tiny dancers in a box, but they can only see the dancers if they are very wicked. They go home and try to be wicked, but their mother tells them if they don’t behave then she will have to go away and send them a new mother with glass eyes and a wooden tail. They don’t want to lose their mother, but...

Saint Benedict & the Nuns

It's a contemplative order, but Sisters Edith and Edna never stop talking. Father Benedict is coming to consecrate the new bell tower today, and the Mother Superior is thinking she might have to ask him to excommunicate them, because they NEVER. Shut. Up.

Loosely based on the hagiography of St. Benedict, as related in The Golden Legend by Jacobus de Voragine.

Petty bureaucrat Kovalyov has always prided himself on his good looks and laughed at disfigurement in others, but his tune changes when his own nose up and runs away! Disguising itself as a higher ranking bureaucrat with fancy uniform and plumed hat, his nose sets out on a mad dash through Petersburg, and Kovalyov finds that whatever the consequences, he must follow his nose.

But Inez knows her husband can't zip his lips for long, so she'd better come up with a scheme clever enough to fool a bandido...a scheme involving a peculiar downpour of...

But Inez knows her husband can't zip his lips for long, so she'd better come up with a scheme clever enough to fool a bandido...a scheme involving a peculiar downpour of tamales! Throw in a narrator-cat with a penchant for drama, a hard working miller and her daughter, and of course a bandido armed with hot peppers and squishy tomatoes, and you have a recipe for a tasty musical comedy.

From pillar to post, from packing-case to piano, the hapless heirs scramble to...

His daughter, Katrijn, longs to be a painter, but the Burgomaster insists she spend her time on housekeeping and cheese making instead.

One day there is a storm and a wave washes a mermaid into the town square. The...

One day there is a storm and a wave washes a mermaid into the town square. The Burgomaster feels it is his duty to keep her on land and train her to be a good housekeeper.

The Mermaid quickly wearies of these tasks, and determines to return to the sea. To get there she helps Katrijn to teach the Burgomaster a lesson about the importance of dirt!
