Emma, desperate to prevent her daughter from living in fear, is still struggling with her own anxieties she gained as a child, and as their terror grows, Emma relives her own childhood. All the while, military leaders and politicians are fighting over America's plans to fight a nuclear war, influenced not by the good of the country but their own interests. The play explores the psychological impact of nuclear weapons, the insanity and immorality of American war planning, and the dangers of resisting being vulnerable.
