  • The command of the language is as elegant as the prose of the source material and moves to a brilliant exploration of subtext—the subtext Forster wished he might have written but dared not—making Doug DeVita's adaptation (reimagining) of "Passage to India" a wonderful, compelling play for the modern stage. The direct address is both intimate and effective. The play's timeliness is also remarkable, considering the repression of love might take different forms today, but is just as much in danger now as then. Viva De Vita!

  • I was so happy to read Nathan's Palindrome play, and I'm looking forward to reading more! This is a fantastic and inventive play, which not only works in the experiment of structure the author employs (the repetition) but the dialogue itself is evocative, natural, immediate and consequential! In other words, it's great every which way! Loved it!

  • A terrific, fast paced slice into the life of two interesting characters catapulted into a now familiar world. The message of hope is delivered deftly and the characters glide effortlessly through the play. A great addition to a one-act evening.

  • Vivian Lermond launches into a world of specificity- warm and hospitable, rustic and homespun- without a hitch! Compressed into a pivotal moment where three people's lives intersect, Lermond's characters live and breathe with great truthfulness. The story is tender and the subject compelling. Great work about a heartfelt subject.

  • It's great how Sarah Tuft uses the myth of celebrity to inspire her, in a reworking of some of the themes of exploitation, abuse and the unspoken power exchanges in marriage via Arthur Miller's Crucible. Tight and slickly wrought, this play elevates contemporary characters into archetypes. Great job on "Abigail!"

  • Susan Cinoman: Dropping the Handkerchief

Charming and well rendererd love story! So authentic and original, and really sharp characters! Love the shape of it, the mystery and the refusal to stoop to cliche. Great job! (Perfect companion piece to "Hysteria" by Susan Cinoman (hehe)

  • Susan Cinoman: When the Dodgers Left Brooklyn

This wonderful short play has all the elements which create a well earned conflict coming to a surprising and moving event. Such a well written short piece, distinctive voices keenly observed, imaginative and transcendent. Great work! Thank you for sharing it.

  • Susan Cinoman: The Loneliest Road in America - Part of the "United Plays of America" Anthology (Nevada)

An engaging dark comedy that reveals many layers of the sisters' relationship in a short, pithy piece. I enjoyed reading several of Claudia's pieces.

  • Susan Cinoman: Phillie's Trilogy

I'm so happy to have read Doug DeVita's sad, hilarious and beautiful elegy, "Phillies Trilogy" The play reads like life: fluid, changeable, unpredictable, painful, happy, loving and beautiful.
The structure of its changing parts reflects the truthfulness and ambivalence of its subjects, the mother who loves so much, is so clueless, so self absorbed, so unselfishly loyal, so faithful and faithless- all at the same time!! All the other characters, too, are painted with the same sense of fair and funny observation, never commented on, always inhabited. Great work to be savored and staged.

  • Susan Cinoman: Courtly Behavior

This is fantastic! It's just rhythmically perfect, really delivers the jokes in a most sophisticated manner, exceptionally good! Mary, you really have to develop this into a full length play. You've created a full out concept where normal suburban people all relate to each other as if they were attendants at a 19th century parlor, or an 18th century court. I suggest finding an event they all have to deal with, like a town meeting about voting on the school budget, or some other pedestrian event and then spin it around into this terrific premise. It's just great!!!!
