  • MISFIT, AMERICA

I had the opportunity to see a reading of this play at the Conch Shell Reading Series, an ambitious play tackling the questions of ownership, identity and family in a uniquely different genre Neo-Western. Nelson's roots can be felt through the characters who happen to also be women, a serious inquiry into inclusivity of the misfits in America.

I was able to hear this smart, funny essential play at BAPF. Dustin ability to caputure the pride and joy in food culturally and asking the questions of ownership and authorship; only opens up so much more questions about appropriation, the boundaries of appreciation of other and how easily it can cross into offense. And the murkiness you can find yourself in ownership and authorship. Great play!

This play takes taboo and flips it on it's head, the exploration of sexuality with compassion and humanity found in the characters leaves you satisfied and yearning for a more understanding world.
  • REVOLT!

A page turning, enlightening insight on the pains and troubles of Puerto Rico, what it means to be from a country fighting to hold it's identity in the shadow of western ideal and capitalism. Great writing of history without the feeling of a lecture.
