  • Grace Heller: Neat.

Breakups are hard. We all know this, and so do Nora and Gordon. As we watch these two stumble through the play you'll likely recognize mistakes you've made, mistakes you haven't, and things you maybe wish you'd done. The relatability of this show draws you in, but it is the reveals and the mystery of it that keeps you hooked until the very last line. McVay creates a very balanced argument - until it's not. The masterful dialogue and skillful handling of difficult themes make this play a fascinating read.

  • Grace Heller: Another Goddamn Dystopian Play

Pure comedy - a playwriting inside joke that I feel most people on NPX will find incredibly relatable and deeply amusing. If you're beginning to be annoyed by the overwhelming number of dystopian plays out there right now, or if you love them, take a few minutes to read another goddamn one of them.

  • Grace Heller: How Sweet The Sound

I mean it when I say that How Sweet The Sound is one of my favorite plays. An absolutely triumphant early script from a playwright we are all going to see a lot more of. McVay creates a world that creeps up on you, where no one, not even the audience has all the same information. She writes comedy, fantasy, drama, and even horror exceptionally well. This play will break your expectations time and time again, and leave you wanting more. An important work for our time in a style you don't frequently see.

  • Grace Heller: Silver Sixpence

Absolutely worthy of all of its accolades. The sibling dynamic is captured and used uniquely in this short play. Now that I think about it Pitts is exceptionally skilled at writing sisters (check out some of her other work to see what I mean). Do yourself a favor and take a few minutes out of your day to read this touching and honest script.

  • Grace Heller: Dust of the Street

Dust of the Street is a deeply honest piece of writing that speaks directly to the audience. It is impossible to walk away from this piece unaffected by what Chris (and Han) have to say. A beautiful and tragic depiction of family and what that means to the child of an adopted son. Absolutely worth a read- you won't want the play to end.

  • Grace Heller: Diamonds and Toads

Diamonds and Toads is a phenomenal example of world building, combining research and fantasy into a new version of reality. Pitts digs deep into actions and their consequences in a way that you don't see in many fairy tale adaptations. Even just as words on a page the writing draws physical reactions from the audience, and it's even better to hear spoken aloud. This play would prove a delightful and creative challenge for any artist to come in contact with it, actors, directors, designers, etc.
