  • VERONICA'S RECIPE FOR GUACAMOLE
    15 Jan. 2024
In "Veronica's Recipe for Guacamole", Davila evokes a sensory experience that made me want to lean in and take part - feeling, tasting, smelling, touching, and mostly, empathizing with Veronica.
  • The Zoo We Found Beneath the Blankets

In this play, Cain creates a beautiful and delicately woven tapestry which ties together themes of isolation, memory, passion, and companionship; all of it wonderfully theatrical.
  • The Gravediggers Union
    4 Jan. 2023
"The Gravediggers Union" flirts between the inherent mundanity that exists for all humans and the larger, wider, (and in this case deeper) questions of existence, happiness and purpose. If you are a fan of Gen X music, you will appreciate the references in this play (Def Leppard to New Edition); as well as the homage played to the rhythm and poetry of Shakespeare, the characters of Chekhov and the absurdity of Beckett. This is theatre, and I enjoyed the o'erpine nature of it all.
  • A Shore of Abundance
    2 Jan. 2023
"A Shore of Abundance" is a swashbuckling exploration of how a mind processes a transformative experience. Similar to "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" - the play journeys through the oceans of Eleanor's mind - toying with the thin line between fantasy and reality. A wonderful play that offers exciting challenges for actors via double casting. Great for all audiences.
  • What the Mind Forgets
    2 Jan. 2023
I was able to see a production of this powerful piece in the summer of 2022 - it's non-linear, highly theatrical structure will leave you with breathless imagery. Jordan Elizabeth Henry writes in a unique voice and genuinely from the heart in this beautiful play which circles around themes of love, grief, trauma and healing.

This play kept me on my seat until the sweet, satisfying, retribution-end! It's funny - no, hilarious - but it also highlights the very real and unsettling conversation in communities today about public education. The haves vs the have-less (less money, opportunity, time, equity). Even though the characters are heightened, it is easy to find these stereotypes represented at any number of board meetings across the country.
    Great play!

fun and funny - i love the way Dickens Assaf dramatizes the inner monologue and all that comes with the over-thinking factor in relationships. this would be a really enjoyable piece to see, and i'm sure (with 99.9% certainty) i would laugh out loud.
  • The Problem With Magic, Is:
    18 May. 2021
This is a really poetic and beautiful play. Read it during a rain storm and felt every bit of it's magic and humanity. Plays like this remind me that we are a shared people.
  • Two Degrees

This is an important climate related play, with strong human story elements including love, grief and the metaphors that follow us around to try to make sense of it all.

This is a such a sweet and funny play - really gets the right mix of it right, and is especially poignant for tackling the issue of preemptive grief that comes from incurable illnesses.
