CYNTHIA WHITE was Director of New Play Development at Orlando Shakes 2015-2021 where she directed Dancing Lessons (St. Germain), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Hatcher), Native Gardens (Zacarías), A Doll’s House Part 2 (Hnath), and Becoming Dr. Ruth (St. Germain) and produced PlayFest 2015–20, Orlando Shakes annual festival of stage readings. She also directed the video production of Poe: Deep Into That Darkness Peering in Fall, 2020. She taught directing at UCF where she was a member of the UCF Theatre Pegasus PlayLab Advisory Committee and directed #GodHatesYou (Dendinger), Boy Gets Girl (Gilman) and Sweat (Nottage). She is a member of NNPN's Board of Directors. Before moving to Orlando, Cynthia worked as a developmental and copy editor (CynTactics Editorial Services) and was on the Board of Directors for Northwest Independent Editors Guild. She has an MFA in Directing from Southern Methodist University, was Associate Director and Director of Play Development at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival where she started the play development program, and is a past President of Shakespeare Theatre Association (STA) as well as a founding member of the Ashland New Play Festival. Cynthia is a freelance director (SDC) and a freelance dramaturg (LMDA).

    I love this play. It is fresh, delightful, provocative. It caught my interest in the list of characters: IMOGEN--A Bear passing as a human. It surprised me that this is not the Imogen from Cymbeline but a character who is probably a typo in Much Ado. Requires some imaginative and theatrical staging--should be great fun. I want to direct this play!!
