Diane Rodriguez is a multi-disciplinary theater artist. She is an Obie Award winning actor, anthologized writer, regional theater director, and Associate Artistic Director at the Center Theatre Group (CTG), Los Angeles and co-curated with Mark Murphy and Mark Russell the RADAR LA Festival in 2011 and 2013, a festival of contemporary theatre. She began her career as a leading performer with the seminal ensemble El Teatro Campesino. Her first two plays, written collectively, LATINS ANONYMOUS and THE LA LA AWARDS, with the ensemble Latins Anonymous were published by Arte Publico and are in their 16th printing. In 2012 and 2013 her first full-length play, Living Large , was produced in Chicago at Teatro Luna and 16th Street Theater, respectively. Her latest play, THE SWEETHEART DEAL was produced at the Los Angeles Theatre Center/Latino Theatre Company is Association with El Teatro Campesino in May of 2017. She directed. Next season, in 2018 she will direct Culture Clash's BORDERTOWN NOW at Pasadena Playhouse. Her monologue PERFECTA is part of a compliation theatre piece titled MATRIARCH premiering in the summer of 2017.

    In 1970, Mari and Will decide to leave their comfortable middle class life in San Jose, California and volunteer for El Malcriado, the underground newspaper for the United Farmworkers Union. It's a tumultuous time for Cesar Chavez' union and the couple find themselves in the middle of a violent struggle that forces Mari to take the lead to protect herself and her husband.
