Daniel and Jerry have been producing plays on Broadway for decades - well, technically Jerry has been producing and Daniel has been assisting him, but that's all about to change, now that Daniel has found the next big musical and about to embark on making the dream he's been chasing for years come true. Jerry is a two time Tony Award winning producer, however a walk on the path of shady ethics has made Jerry a bit of an outcast for the past three years, and now in desperate need of a hit to get back in the game; lucky for him Daniel seems to have found one, and thus begins an epic battle to make it to - or back to- the top. Along with each other, they are also battling their wives, the mother of the dead writer who owns the work, a hapless intern who actually believes in the magic of theater and Jerry's secretary who sometimes develops a phobia of the mail. KING STAG is a play about the American dream. The one promised, and the one that shows up. It is a searing drama housed in a farce - striving for the mixed essence of Moliere and Mamet, with plenty of laughs, banter, sex, twists, turns, and genuine striving for who we are as we enter our middle age, what success means to us, and what lengths we will go to attain it.
