Andrea Fine Carey

Andrea Fine Carey has written two prize-winning plays. "Jump" won 1st prize at Fells Point Corner Theatre's 10x10 festival in Baltimore; "Strange Brew" won 1st place in a one act festival in Ellicott City, Maryland. Her work has also been performed in Virginia, Arizona, New York and Florida. Andrea is a member of the Dramatists Guild. She lives in Maryland and Virginia.

    A southern family is ripped apart when a Confederate statue is torn down across the street from their home.

    Sarah’s life is falling apart. Her mother just died, her husband left her, and now her elderly father is taking over her house. As Sarah discovers that her perfect father is all too fallible, her mother’s ghost appears with biting commentary and unsolicited advice. Set in Baltimore, the play examines, through a comic lens, the struggle between family commitment and personal freedom.

    Four strangers wake up to find themselves in a room with a large box but no doors or windows. Then things get weird. They discover they share the same age and birthday (Feb 29), but they live in different time zones and different decades, ranging from the 1950s to the 2020s. The box provides various gifts and clues, depending on how well they resolve conflict. In the end, their escape depends upon all four...
