Sam Walsh is a New York based playwright, performer, and multi-disciplinary artist. They write plays about the particular form of loneliness perpetuated by American individualism — plays that make you laugh and make you sad in an indescribable kind of way.

Sam is currently an ARTC Fellowship recipient. She has been a Finalist for the New Georges Jam, Ingram New Works Lab, and Chain Theater Playwriting Lab; a Semi-Finalist for Play Penn, The Princess Grace Award, The National Playwrights Conference, WP Lab, Seven Devils Playwrights Conference, the Hearth’s Virtual Retreat, Unicorn Theatre New Play Reading Series, Judith Royer Excellence in Playwriting Award, and the SLU Inkslinger Playwriting Award.

Sam holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Florida and an MFA in Playwriting from Hunter College. They’re a proud member of the Dramatists Guild.

One morning, his estranged niece Maxine shows up on his doorstep, forcing them both to navigate the ghosts of their past in order to truly live in the present. 'the stranger' is a quiet meditation on the trappings of grief, regret, and learning when repairing something actually means starting anew.
