Based on roughly ten pages of Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray," "The Death of Alan Campbell" focuses on the title character best known for being blackmailed by Gray into disposing of Basil Hallward's body. A gay man in Victorian England finds himself the victim of Darwinism's influence and the staunch gender roles of the era, while his wife experiences the social pressures placed on her to differing degrees. These come to a head when Gray calls upon their house, and a tragedy of events ensues. An impressionistic play utilizing technology and time, "The Death of Alan Campbell: A Wilde Affair" is a nonstop new take on a classic of queer literature.
