Wow! What a chilling play. So much backstory and character development squeezed into just a few pages, but such a wild story that it never feels like exposition. And just when you think things are winding down, they get even wilder! Kept me on my toes (with my jaw dropped). Well done!

First of all, I LOVE this title. I knew I had to read it and I wasn't disappointed! Bavoso's dialogue moves at a fast clip, and the banter is delicious. Funny and specific and relatable and clever as can be, #AREASONABLEAMOUNTOFCAPS is an absolute delight.

It's rare that I'm THIS in the dark about the direction a short play is going in, and I love it! I could not have seen that twist coming (ironically?). Author Benji Carr leaves us with a lot to think about with each new line of dialogue, not a moment wasted. Well done!

  • Louise Schwarz: Goldilocks and the Three Bowls of Ramen

An absolutely delightful and irreverent metatheatrical take on multiple fairy tales! Norkin spins a tale that young performers will love to get their hands on -- silly, madcap, but playing with (and upending) tropes they know well. So fun! (And look, who can't relate to the heartbreak of realizing your ramen noodles are gone?!)

Ouch! Radtke gets straight to the brutally honest truth in this quick and heartbreaking take on corporate greed. It's so seemingly simple, and yet so incisive. Painful and powerful piece that reminds us to think about what we probably already know but cannot bear to face.

  • Louise Schwarz: TAH TAH TATAS

Leigh and Vic are a lesbian couple in a lived-in, long-term relationship. One morning they wake up and Vic has transformed into a hairy, beer-bellied man overnight -- chaos erupts! How can she prove it's still her? Will Leigh still love her? A big-hearted, funny play that also works as a really beautiful metaphor for what happens when the body you were physically attracted to in the early days is no longer that body. Love IS love, as Leigh and Vic point out! Fun, lovely work.

Such a heartbreaker in such a short piece! I love the way she played with expectations here; this one really packs a punch (and reminds us to remember our OWN grace).

I am always looking for standalone monologues for adult acting students, but I admit I was skeptical that a standalone piece THIS short could give enough to work with -- but I was wrong by the end of the very first sentence! The costume tells us a whole story and location, and the opening sentence itself tells us more about the speaker, the spoken-of deceased character, and the situation than some monologues do in ten pages. Deft, quick, and chock-full of fun imagery and TONS for an actor to work with.

A concise two-hander about the ways we navigate space in relationships for the *physical* baggage one another brings along, and the ways we carry grief and draw boundaries for the grief of others. Very poignant with some great bits of dark humor!
