Matt Steinberg

Matt Steinberg is a native of Los Angeles, but moved to New York City as soon as he possibly could. His most recent play, Socially Unacceptable, was developed with Primary Stages ESPA and was produced at The Tank Theater.

Matt served as the showrunner's assistant on FX's limited series FOSSE/VERDON, as well as assistant to playwright on DAYS OF RAGE (Second Stage) and DEAR EVAN HANSEN (Music Box). Matt was a resident playwright for the NYU GALLATIN THEATER GROUP, getting a production of his first play THE BETTER PARTY. He then went on to join The New Group Theater's young playwrights workshop, where he developed his play ROCKSTAR.

Currently, Matt is assisting Steven Levenson on two feature films, for which Levenson has written the screenplay: ...TICK, TICK, BOOM (dir. Lin Manuel...

Matt started out writing during in the world of New York comedy– performing stand-up around NYC, writing sketches at the Upright Citizen's Brigade, and even contributing jokes as the writer’s intern at LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS.

Synopsis

Synopsis

After suffering a family tragedy, 16 year old Jesse is forced to spend a weekend at his new girlfriend's family home. When Jesse arrives, he learns that another guest of the family is staying at the house that weekend, a very famous rock and roll musician. As Jesse and the rockstar become close during his time of turmoil, Jesse's life plans begin to dramatically change.
