  • I'M FINE THOUGH. Or am I? This play hit me, hard, in a deeply personal way.

Staying in the YouTuber universe, this play is a deep-dive into what it means to be an artist, or even just a person, in a similar vein of a video essay by Mia Cole, CJ The X, or Big Joel.

I don't know how to end this recommendation, other than to say read it. And then maybe play around with singing one of Rae's songs, in whatever fashion you feel fits. And of course, enjoy.

  • This musical begs to be fully produced, and it should be. The characters, stage directions, and songs all leap off the page.

Catherine and Shawn's journeys to self-acceptance and exploration of the art they love so well is beautiful to behold, and their insecurities are sure to ring true in the soul of any artist.

Sarah Flaim and Natalie Myrick do an incredible job setting this story to music. AT THE BARRE is unlike any musical you've experienced, and is absolutely an experience worth having.

  • This entire premise is, frankly, batshit insane. Which makes it all the more unbelievable that so many of the major plot points are based on actual events.

What ties it all in a beautiful & fascinating bow are the wildly unique characters and their carefully constructed relationships. SMJ traps you in this small town with these young women, entreating you to not just acknowledge, but experience all the town puts on them.

Just like any small Ohio town, SMALL TOWN ICONS will stay with you... whether you make it out or not.

  • Rare is a play this gut-busting, fear-inducing, and dangerously sharp. I dare you to read UNTITLED RACCOON PLAY without bursting out in laughter, only to be followed by the existential dread that comes with knowing the characters you're observing may be all too real off the stage.

This is one of SMJ's finest plays. It must find a larger audience, it must. Read. This. Play.

  • This play will have your high school drama students clamoring to take part. SMJ perfectly captures the emotional turmoil of theater-kid adolescence without feeding into/relying on the cattiness college auditions too often bring out.

It is a joy to watch these students come into their own, and navigate the seemingly insurmountable challenges thrust upon them by the adults in control of their futures.
