Jeffrey Luke Baker

Jeffrey Luke Baker is a playwright from Mission Viejo, Orange County, California. He attended DePaul University in Chicago where he recieved a BFA in Playwriting and a BA in German Studies. His play Ascension was a mainstage productions in DePaul's 23/24 season as part of its New Playwrights Series. Before Chicago, he attended Fullerton Community College where he wrote and staged 6 plays including his one-act No Girls Allowed, which also received a production at Cal State Fullerton. He is currently a part of Fulbright Austria teaching English in Steiermark.

Synopsis

The morning after graduating high school, Matthew wakes to a future that looks bleak. Addicted to porn, smoking too much weed, alienated from his father, Matthew has no job, no friends, no college to look forward to--no future. Desperate to find meaning, Matthew reconnects with Felix over steroid fueled work outs, and finds himself lured back to the cultish Ascensionist church to perform in a play that asks...
