Cynthia Joyce Clay is a member of the Dramatists’ Guild. Her full length plays “A Kiss for Cupid,” “Flesh and Blooders,” and two of her one-acts “Music of Broken Water” and “The Romance of Belisa and Don Perloba in the Moonlist Garden” were produced at Storycrafter Studio on Miami Beach during 2013 and 2014. When Storycrafter Studio reopened in 2016 in North Miami, it produced Clay's full length play "The Wish Maker," winter holiday musical "Beware the Jabberwocky" and one-act commedia del arte piece "Boom! Boom! Comedy Boom!" Her plays have been produced in MA, Santa Fe, NM, as well as Miami, FL. She is the author of Vector Theory and the Plot Structures of Literature and Drama as well as novels, plays, a short story collection, and co-contributing editor to an award winning anthology of poetry. She was invited to Russia to deliver her paper, “The Application of Vector Theory to Literature and Drama” at the international conference “Languages of Science, Languages of Art” and was chased by the KGB.

  • Parade Upmanship
    Three wealthy, greedy, and egotistical individuals are planning their float for a parade. They want to win Best of Parade and the charity award. They fail, first because their idea is so silly, and two, because their snobbery backfires on them.
  • A Wreath of Voices
    A psychic grandmother dreams about a threat that uses the choir her grandchildren belong to. An FBI agent investigates a terrorist and is prompted in the right direction by "intuitions" sent by the grandmother.
  • The Gold Diggers Daughter
    Inspired by Lorca's play, a manipulative mother marries off her daughter to the local rich lord though she knows he is a werewolf. The daughter, however, finds herself happy in her marriage.
  • Rum Runners
    A couple enjoying a romantic evening at a Florida beach witness a drug drop.
  • Flesh and Blooders
    A mad puppeteer who hates people needs assistants for a hot film gig. She hires a Hindustani immigrant trained in Indian Classical Dance and an amnesiac who has happened to walk in off the street.
  • A Kiss for Cupid
    A college professor marries the man of her dreams, her only problem is her mother-in-law, Venus the goddess of love, wants to kill her.
  • The Wish Maker
    The Gray Sisters, goddesses forgotten by the world, were punished eons ago to live deep in a cave. The Sisters share an eye, their only visitors brutal men who come to steal their eye to force the Gray Sisters to tell their secrets. But the Gray Sisters are to be freed! That is, if they can just stop squabbling and do some good deeds for a change. The Wish Maker is a rollicking comedy the whole family will enjoy.

    Lord Tyrone, newly married to Lady Isabella, is accused of stealing the king's statute which was to be used as a proxy for the king's marriage. Lady Isabella, her cousin Katherine, and her swordmistress Florence flee assassins by sailing out to sea on Lady Isabella's pleasure vessel, Katherine, mortally wounded dies. Isabella and Florence land at an Island ruled by a dragon queen. A usurper to...
    Lord Tyrone, newly married to Lady Isabella, is accused of stealing the king's statute which was to be used as a proxy for the king's marriage. Lady Isabella, her cousin Katherine, and her swordmistress Florence flee assassins by sailing out to sea on Lady Isabella's pleasure vessel, Katherine, mortally wounded dies. Isabella and Florence land at an Island ruled by a dragon queen. A usurper to the throne, Queen Judymal has Isabella and Florence thrown over a cliff to feed a sea dragon. The two manage to swim to safety to a cave where they find the king's proxy statue. The dragon, Belinda, comes, a shape-shifter in love with king. Belinda stole the proxy statue so that no one else could marry the king. Belinda agrees to return the statue to the king to save Lord Tyrone's life. The king's court has turned on him, but assisted by Belinda, Florence, Lord Tyrone and Isabella, he defeats the traitors. The king joins the others in returning to Belinda's island to win back her throne from Judymal.
  • Imaginary Men
    Imaginary Men is set in an analogous universe where men literally can not be seen, heard, or touched until a girl's menses have regularized. Tansy is a late bloomer, physically speaking, and is only now at sixteen approaching the date of her Viewing Party, the celebration that will open her perception to men. However, Tansy is determined to be a scientist and there is no hard core evidence men exist, so...
    Imaginary Men is set in an analogous universe where men literally can not be seen, heard, or touched until a girl's menses have regularized. Tansy is a late bloomer, physically speaking, and is only now at sixteen approaching the date of her Viewing Party, the celebration that will open her perception to men. However, Tansy is determined to be a scientist and there is no hard core evidence men exist, so she does not believe in them to the consternation of all the women around her who try, and fail, to convince her otherwise.
