Charles “Chip” Decker began his professional theatre career in 1985 while serving in the United States Air Force. In addition to managing the Minot AFB Theatre Group, and serving as the lighting and Technical Director for “Shower of Stars” (a national tour sponsored by the USAF) he also worked as Technical Director for The Mouse River Players.

Charles “Chip” Decker began his professional theatre career in 1985 while serving in the United States Air Force. In addition to managing the Minot AFB Theatre Group, and serving as the lighting and Technical Director for “Shower of Stars” (a national tour sponsored by the USAF) he also worked as Technical Director for The Mouse River Players.

After having been honorably discharged from the USAF, he moved to North Carolina in the 1990’s and was hired by Actor's Theatre in 1996 as their Technical Director and was hired in 2001 as Artistic Director.

During his tenure at Actor’s Theatre, the company has won:

3 State “Professional Theater Company of the Year” Awards
9 Creative Loafing “Theater Company of the Year” Awards
5 MTA Theater Company of the Year” Awards

Chip has received numerous awards for his work both on and off stage including:

Best Director for a Comedy
Best Supporting Actor in a Drama
Numerous Best Set Design Awards
Numerous Best Sound Design Awards
“Theater Person of The Year” Award.


During his 29 year career, He has performed, directed, and managed in California, North Carolina, Texas, North Dakota, Vermont and Canada.
