Kendra is an emerging playwright based in the Seattle area. A graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, she has a BMA and BFA in acting/directing. A recent MFA graduate of University of Idaho, Kendra works as a literary assistant with Northwest Playwrights Alliance (NPA) and has facilitated numerous ten-minute play contests and festivals in the Puget Sound Region. She is a founding member of Vashon Repretory Theatre, where she often serves as dramaturg, and member of the NPA writers' group at the Seattle Repretory Theatre. Her new play, "Her Sister", telling the story of Anne Franks' older sister, Margot, premiered recently at Millersville University during their Conference on the Holocaust and Genocide. The one-act version of this play won a high school ensemble first in place in Utah's high school theatre one-act competition. During the pandemic, Zoom adaptations of two of her plays (Pancakes and Eggs: Greek Gods in a Diner; and A Christmas Carol) were produced in Moscow, Idaho. Other past productions include: Deep Calls (University of Idaho), A Christmas Carol (University of Idaho), Family Game Night: an a cappella musical (Artist Trust GAP grant supported reading with NPA, production at Western Washington University), and Tads - adaptation of a play by Eva Suter (Theatre Arts Olympia/NPA).
Previously she has worked as an educator and music director for the Mercer Island based Youth Theatre Northwest, teaching young actors from kindergarten to eighth grade. In 2015 she was invited to participate in a writers co-op retreat sponsored by HBMG Foundation and Creede Repretory Theatre.
