Jena Rashid is a Pakistani, female-identifying playwright who is currently based in Orlando, FL. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a BA in Theatre Studies and a minor in music in 2021. She has worked as a stage manager, director, playwright, actor and other roles throughout her career. Since she graduated, she has interned at Orlando Shakes and Florida Studio Theatre and currently works with Jobsite Theater as a Producing Associate and with the Orlando Shakes as the Producer-in-Residence. In addition, she still writes plays when she can, and her works can be found on the NewPlayExchange.org. Her plays have been workshopped and developed since 2018. Most recently her plays 'The Ultimate Cheeseburger' and 'Therapy' were professionally workshopped and her plays 'The One with the Ghost' and 'Dinner Date' received world premieres.

    The employees at Chicken & Roots, Co. are just trying to make ends meet like most of working America. When those who run the place only aim to profit off the backs of these employees, who knows how far they’ll go to make a quick buck. But when one worker is finally pushed to the brink, only the unthinkable happens that turns this place on its head.

    Combining politics with the popular interactive game Kahoot! this piece utilizes Brechtian influences as the world representatives (and their intern) try their hand at lawmaking.
  • Jukebox
    On one of the worst weeks of Alex's life she wanders into a local, downtown bar for a drink. However, unbeknownst to her, she ends up learning about a magical jukebox that takes it's residence within the bar. One, that legend says, plays the exact perfect song that the listener needs to hear in that moment. Through the bar regulars she, shockingly, learns that this silly story is actually true...or does she?
