In this poignant and compelling new work, an ambitious manager introduces a new first violinist to a longstanding string quartet with an uncertain future. As the reconstituted quartet plays, over twelve weeks of rehearsals and performances, it becomes evident that this new blood has disrupted the settled dynamics of the group. "FOUR" is a story of five people - four members, one manager - and what it means to love someone even after losing them. This play with music has heart, soul, and spirit, spun through with songs both classical and contemporary.

The award-winning playwright of FOUR, Clé Holly (Parallel Lines, Stretch, American Standard), is herself a violinist, and it shows in the verisimilitude of this sharply written drama. At under 50 minutes, "Four" is packed with emotional depth and authenticity of character. While both live and recorded music are featured and a score is available, FOUR can also be performed solely with recorded music.

In development. Festivals, workshops, schools welcomed! Synopsis: Finn Beale, a brand-new business owner of a yoga studio, wants to capture the fitness market in the newly-gentrifying neighborhood she’s just bought into, never mind that she knows nothing about the area other than its affordability. As there is no other yoga studio around for miles, Finn sits atop a very small mountain – and she’s not giving up her prime perch.

Finn struggles to find meaning; she thinks that if she succeeds at this venture then she’ll be known as a success and not the person she really is – sad, grieving, lonely, insecure, and depressed.

The Inciting Incident occurs when competition sets up next door. Cameron’s new Zumba class threatens Finn’s sense of security because now her “stuck” patrons have somewhere else to turn…and they will definitely turn as Finn runs her studio like a taskmaster (“Perfection”). Sadly, Finn’s fear turns out to be right, and her students flee her studio like bats out of hell.

What will happen to Finn’s business? Will she find a way to right the ship and get her students back, or will this new Zumba class be the death of her studio and her dream? And, in her attempt to save herself, will she finally learn to…stretch?
