He has written for print (The New York Times, Southern Theatre Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, California Magazine, Los Angeles Magazine, the Huffington Post, The Hill), screen and television, for which he created the series Lincoln Heights. He has received multiple Emmys, Writers Guild Awards, Golden Globes, Peabody, P.E.N., First Amendment, Christopher, Humanitas and numerous other honors for screenwriting, fiction writing and journalism. Some years ago, in an actual case in an American city, a young man was arrested and tried for displaying a sign with a word prosecutors charged was offensive to the community. In (verb), a play on words, another somewhat endearing, possibly troubled, enigmatic young man commits a similar offense, upping the ante by exposing the same (still taboo) word where it will be seen by young children. He is taken into...

Some years ago, in an actual case in an American city, a young man was arrested and tried for displaying a sign with a word prosecutors charged was offensive to the community. In (verb), a play on words, another somewhat endearing, possibly troubled, enigmatic young man commits a similar offense, upping the ante by exposing the same (still taboo) word where it will be seen by young children. He is taken into custody and charged. When a young attorney takes on the defense, despite reservations from the woman who shares his life, there follows an intricate duel exploring language, law, sex, ethics, and contemporary mores.

Synopsis

A terrific woman’s heart is giving out. Without a transplant, she will die. Her blood and tissue type make her a particularly difficult match for a donor. Amazingly, a donor is located. There is just a slight problem. The donor is still very much alive.

As it happens the patient’s husband is megarich, an extremely successful Silicon valley entrepreneur. He can pay – almost anything. But we don’t do that...
