Julie Whitney-Scott is the Founder/Artistic Director of Mine 4 God Productions and the annual Columbus Black Theatre Festival, which celebrated eleven years in 2023. Julie is a published author, poet, playwright, director, and actor who produces and hosts two radio shows for WGRN.org/FM 91.9. Her short stories and poems have been published in magazines and anthologies in Ohio. She is a freelance writer for the Columbus Free Press and was a DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Reviewer of Educational Materials for Longbourn Editorial Services.

Julie has written and produced her original plays since 1984. She shares her playwriting, directing and acting skills with other Central Ohio Theatre companies and was the 1st & 2nd Vice President of Central Ohio Theatre Roundtable 2021-2023. She is a Residence Theatre Teaching Artist for The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio and was also a Residence Teaching Artist for Columbus Children’s Theatre, teaching acting, playwriting and other theatre skills to youth and young adults. Julie was also a MadLab Young Writers Mentor for high school seniors 2020-2023.

Julie received the Central Ohio Theatre Roundtable Harold Award in 2019 for the annual Columbus Black Theatre Festival and was also nominated for “Excellence in a Leading Role” in 2019 for her role of “Odessa” in Waiting to be Invited and nominated for Best Lead Actor by Broadway World in 2021 for her one-woman performance of her play Diary of Recovering Daughters.

  • YOU CAN'T GO BACK
    A person brings their ex to a bar that they used to frequent in hopes of bringing back the love that was lost.
  • Three Sisters by the Fence
    Takes place in the backyards of three black women who live in Columbus, Ohio during the summer of 2008. Their yards are connected by fences. Their lives are connected by society and the hope of a Black President of the United States.
  • Risperdal Hall
    It's winter in Columbus, Ohio and so far it's been a mild one. It's a normal Friday afternoon for the staff and "customers" at Birdside Mental Health Center. That is until they become trapped in the building overnight during a level three snow emergency.
  • The Verdict is Death
    Jesus is on trial for treason and is being judged for his “sins” by his “peers”. Who are the witnesses used against him? He dies and rises on the third day in the “good book”. Is there more to the story? Two young female news reporters bring the verdict to their fans via social media. The jury is in and the verdict is death.
