Mary Powelson is a lifelong theatre artist and an emerging playwright. As a director, actor, and dramaturg, she has worked with SF Bay Area playwrights in new play development. Her first ten-minute play, Iphigenia at Nasdaq, was a 2000 Finalist for the Heideman Award. Mary just completed her first full-length play, The Jumping Off Place. Her personal essay, Air, was published in (Her)oics, an anthology of women's lived experiences during the pandemic (Pact Press, 3/21). Mary founded Salesian Club Theatre, a San Francisco youth arts company, writes curriculum, and taught teenage female playwrights for 3 Girls Theatre (SF). She is a member of SAG-AFTRA, Dramatists Guild, and holds both a B.A. and M.A. in Theatre from San Francisco State University.
