Phantom of the Opera meets Romeo and Juliet with a positive ending.

Two diverse leaders of medieval warring countries initiate peace by entering into an arranged marriage. While falling in love, the battle forces around them who try to push them apart.

As the newly crowned leader of the Intrepid, King Nobelus falls for Dianna, the princess of the bitter rival Ardent. Both so different, they share a common love for their people, and will do anything for them. The only way to enact positive change is to enter into an arranged marriage to unify their people. As their relationship grows, they learn to love each other.

Counselor Tavarius, Nobelus’ trusted advisor, can’t live with this betrayal of his Intrepid values. He secretly plots against King Nobelus to take over the throne and lead a final push to crush the nearly defeated Ardent.

Layered, subtle and interesting read. Not at all what I was expecting.
  • THE WAY IT IS

After about 10 pages into THE WAY IT IS, I realized I recognized Cane and Yasmine in several of the people I already know, and could see the brilliance of Donna Hoke's writing talent. Visceral and unapologetic, layered and true to the character, Donna is deserving of all the awards she's won. Excellent read!
