It’s September 10th, 2011 in Weatherford Texas, and Russell Tulane is trying to help his estranged lesbian mother pull off an illegal gay wedding, a drag show charity reception, a 9/11 decennial tribute, the finalization of his divorce, keeping the Muslim venue owners at bay, and make amends for his own past sins. However, the conservative local community, his ruinous finances, and his own volatile nature all seem to be conspiring to send this wedding off the rails. As Russ tries to handle each mounting disaster leading up to the reception, the ever present ghost of his abusive father keeps pushing him into increasingly dangerous outbursts. When the truth comes out about how Russ has handled putting on this wedding, Russ is forced to finally confront who he is and what he has been doing for the last 20 years.
