Lauren Elise Fisher

Lauren Elise Fisher is a holistic theatre artist based out of Bridgeport, Connecticut. She has been fortunate to work with companies ranging from off-Broadway, regional, and opera as a stage manager, performer, and COVID-19 safety manager. She has numerous publications as a poet as well. Lauren holds a B.A. in Theatre Studies from the University of Connecticut's drama program where she studied: stage management, performance, and puppetry. She is also an alumna of the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center's National Music Theatre Institute. When not writing or in a rehearsal process, she can be found reading tarot cards and walking on the beach.

Synopsis

Saturn Says Shalom is a one-woman drag show put on by Saturnalia.
Saturnalia is one of the Saturn-Shtetl Jews to have returned back to Earth after four generations and is hosting a Saturn-Style Shabbat to connect with her new Earth community. The evening is opened with three different drag acts [ideally local] before she takes the stage to share stories of her assimilation to Earth.

Saturn Says Shalom is a story highlighting diaspora and queerness, one that is heavily influenced by the stories of classic Yiddish Theatre such as Chantzhe in American, contemporary African American Theatre such as Ain’t No Mo’, and the queer camp found in RuPaul’s Drag Race.
