Rose is a greeting card writer who yearns to become a published poet. Daisy’s other patrons are Jazmine Jones, an account executive who writes militant poems, and Arnold Fishbinder, a banker who writes romantic poetry. The director has his hands full with a crazy cast of characters who seem less invested in the play than in their own lives. They are all preparing to present the play over Zoom for the first time and there are many challenges, including an actress who can’t remember her lines, a diva who has trouble sticking to the script even though she’s also the playwright, a mature actress who is constantly confused, a mature actor who can’t stay awake, and one actress who is stuck in a protest march and missing from the rehearsal. Running the production is a dynamic stage manager who is the only one on book, and a sarcastic director with a short fuse. The officer decides not to arrest them and cautions them not to return. Throughout the play, a mime watches what transpires, reacting to--and imitating -- the other characters without them noticing him. This farce is a comic adaptation of a short story by Guy de Maupassant.
