Three women…their stories…and how their lives are changed through the power of poetry. Daisy Daniels, a poet and “flower child” from the 60s, runs the Poetry Panacea Café in NYC. She encourages poets to share their work and she mentors young poets. Her close friend, Professor Quincy Thomas, introduces her to Rose Kelly. Rose is a greeting card writer who yearns to become a published poet. Daisy’s other patrons are Jazmine Jones, an account executive who writes militant poems, and Arnold Fishbinder, a banker who writes romantic poetry. Their stories intersect, and are told with pathos, humor, love, a touch of jazz, and poetry. Throughout the play, the ways the characters connect are revealed—and poetry is the panacea.
