The Author's Game

by Jen Kaczmarek

Synopsis

Romeo refuses to accept his fate and demands answers from the man who wrote him into tragedy. Over a game of chess in purgatory, Shakespeare must defend his choices as author, even as Romeo pushes back against destiny. The Author’s Game is a playful one-act that explores the eternal question of whether art belongs to the creator or the characters who live within it.
