Over their lunch break they gossip about coworkers, commiserate miserable working conditions, exchange sexual fantasies, and generally, talk shit. The threat of automation looms as it would force individuals to work twelve hour shifts alone with a robot instead of with each other. It sends the crew into a tailspin of panic and misery as they try to conceive of this job without the one thing that makes it bearable, each other. Picture day is a mediation on the working conditions in modern day factories and a celebration of the kinds of relationships that those conditions threaten.
