Noah Mannix (they/them) is a playwright, theatermaker, and teaching artist based in Philadelphia,

Noah Mannix (they/them) is a playwright, theatermaker, and teaching artist based in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. They have a Bachelor’s in English and a certificate in poetic ethnography from Temple
University (‘22) studying under Dr. Kimmika Williams-Witherspoon. They are a member of Azuka Theatre’s Rising Writers program as well as Matchbox Theatre’s Playwrights Group. They are a graduate of the National Theatre Institute’s Summer Theatermakers Intensive program (‘23) where they studied as a playwright. They are also a Miranda Family Fellow (‘23-current). Their work at Azuka Theatre in Philadelphia includes a staged reading of their full-length play “All-of-the-Above Jesus” (‘23), their one-act play “Prophets” (‘22), and as a teaching artist in Azuka’s Community Engagement Project, “Community Stories” (‘23-Current). They are a finalist for Big Idea Theatre’s One Act Festival (‘23) and Playpenn’s The Foundry (‘22). They have also participated in Horizon Theatre’s New South Young Playwright’s Festival (‘22).

Plays

  • All-of-the-above Jesus
    Casey and Mark, two gay men who grew up together in Youth group and going to Jesus Camp,
    reconnect after years apart. Their discoveries about each other and themselves lead them to a
    new understanding of love and themselves. John the Baptist and Jesus go through a similar process of discovery as they attempt to learn about the nature of their history and love for each
    other.
  • The Ice Fishing House or: The Bravery Test
    When Antonio and Jacob try to leave on a romantic getaway to Antonio's inherited ice-fishing house, they aren't expecting Antonio's estranged family to show up. But they do, and along with them come a slew of different worlds, ideas, and histories that dredge the lake of every last piece of grime that they can find.
  • Prophets
    A prophet, a private detective, two hikers, and two raccoons find themselves at a gas station in the middle of nowhere in search of answers to questions they don't even know they need to ask.
  • Animals
    When unnamed narrator "V"'s dad dies, they decide to make a podcast compiling recordings of people talking about death in order to try and open up a conversation with their mother. A radio play.
  • Elephants Water Bones
    Amelia must move through the grief of her father's death and decide what legacy of his she will carry on to the daughter that has started to grow in her belly.
  • Reasons, or: What Will Happen When You Fall in Love
    A group of actors get together to discuss love, life, and death. What will happen when they give into their extremes of emotion? What will greet them on the other side?
  • A Seat at the End of the World
    When Sean pulls Eva, the daughter of the Moon and Water, from her perch atop a tree, the end of the world is triggered. The Temptation, Eva, and the last man on Earth have to learn how to love each other as they experience tragic consequences.
  • Elsinore, Missouri

  • Little Things
    An extra-dimensional con man finds lost souls and attempts to steal their lives from them, including a mother and son whose true selves have been defined by secrecy, and a soldier and George Bernard Shaw who are stuck in the Andes mountains. The disparate characters deal with their own mortality and questions of what is bigger than them as the con man finds ways to prey on their insecurities and relationships with each other.
