  • it's so good i actually got kind of angry.
the magic of this play is that you get to experience what it was like to enjoy a brilliant play in verse in Moliere's and Shakespeare's time, because instead of reading the footnotes and trying to comprehend the plot, you understand every line.

  • this play is so f*&^ing good i remember i left the reading breathless and unable to think. dear god, the way Matt connects 1905 russia to now is terrifyingly deft and easy. what a taut drama about whether intellectuals have any positive impact on society at all and why we cannot let the elitists OR the anti-elitists win. And funny, too!

(tbqh Brendan Dalton could do a reading of the tax code and make it dramatically compelling but it's not just that.)

  • Nick's ear for dialogue and his gift for emotionally potent surrealist theatricality alone make this a must-read. This play has not left my mind since I first read it almost three years ago! An American Dream comedy-turned-drama that evokes the working class dinner table plays of 1940s Broadway, TIRES' second act is a showdown between four crisply carved, diametrically opposed family members who also love each other deep. This is a chewy, edge-of-your-seat piece about the first generation's struggles and the second generation's obligations. An immensely compelling portrayal of the playwright's...

  • Every part in Virtuous Fall is meaty and juicy. Every actor gets something great to do! How rare is that? It's hysterical, tender, and very tightly structured. Think Dance Nation with nuns instead of Abby Lee Miller, or The Wolves, with a blasphemous adaptation of Measure For Measure instead of soccer nationals at its center. Yes it is that good. It made me feel like I had gone to a Catholic high school myself and I'm Jewish.
