Ellen Denny

Ellen Denny (she/her) is a Playwright and Actor based in Toronto, Canada. Her produced plays include PLEASUREVILLE (Neptune Theatre, The Guild Charlottetown), a comedy set in a small town sex shop; and TAKE CARE (Here For Now Theatre), about the challenges of caregiving. During the pandemic, Ellen co-created FEBRUARY: A LOVE STORY - about dating 6ft apart - which ran live at Globus Theatre, and digitally with the Stratford Festival. She also had two short plays produced digitally: SO YOU, SO I (Driftwood Theatre) and ABOVE GROUND FLOOR (Live Bait Theatre, Sudden Spark Collective).

As a 2019 participant of Musical Stage’s Launch Pad program, Ellen was book writer for musical WHAT GOES UP, alongside songwriting team Colleen Dauncey and Akiva Romer-Segal (GROW, THE LOUDER WE GET). Ellen has received funding support from all levels of government and is currently developing several plays, including WONDER, about female nuclear physicist Harriet Brooks, and PROJECT QYZRA, which was a finalist for the Cayle Chernin Award.
