A contraband mule and the spirit of her triple great grandmother must smuggle a pair of kidneys across (formerly-known-as) North America in a world where it’s forbidden to perform organ transplants. High John 5.17 is a sci-fi play set in the 2200s, full of magic, retold folktales, and the weight of bargains made by a few for the benefit of the many.

They aim to live off their land for 90 days with no access to the outside world, inspiring greater change across the country. But when a looming threat arrives, along with a reluctant newcomer, The People of this marsh mesocosm must find a way to make it to the final day with their community still intact.
