Christine Scarfuto

Christine Scarfuto is a dramaturg, producer, and educator. She is the Director of the MFA Playwriting Program at Hunter College, a highly-selective, rigorous, affordable and accessible two-year playwriting program in New York City. She specializes in the development of new works and has nearly two decades of experience in new play development. She puts playwrights at the center of her practice, and makes it her mission to honor and support their vision. She is a fierce advocate for playwrights and artists. She was the Literary Manager of Long Wharf Theatre from 2015-2019, where she oversaw a robust new play development program. She has taught playwriting and dramaturgy at Fordham, Rutgers, and the University of Iowa. Christine was educated entirely in public schools including the University of Iowa, where she received her MFA in Dramaturgy.
