My various plays are available in 15 languages and have been staged from Mexico City to Madrid to Paris to Amsterdam to Romanian TV to Bangalore India to Kyoto Japan. They include "Obediently Yours, Orson Welles," the monodrama "Barabbas" (a/k/a "The Blind"), two verbatim pieces, "The Rehearsal" and "The Gluttons," the epic "Station J" and the adaptation of "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich." I have been a Ford, Shubert and Rockefeller Fellow, and am the recipient of two N.E.A. Creative Writing Fellowships, among others.

With its core principles of sanctity for the law, fair and open elections and freedom of the press eroding - here and abroad - the future of democracy is looking increasingly uncertain. The event that precipitated America's decline is the 1934 plot by the ultra wealthy to replace President Roosevelt - by force of arms - with someone more favorably disposed to maintaining their privileged circumstances. As no-one was ever charged for their involvement in this forgotten treason, the threat of it being repeated cannot be discounted.
